As soon as PCC licensed version was launched we've started the "hot" tests of using it as main capture software on set.

We had a pop-up error that we've repetitively experienced on PPC interface only:

"In function IP AllocateImage 0: [file iplalloc.c, line 315] for allocate image data
Insufficient memory (status -4)
ErrMode IPL_ErrorMode leaf
Terminate the application?
Yes or No"

The "No" click do not solve the issue. The "yes" click is generating the message "IPL Library: terminating the application".

Need to close PCC and restarted.

The same error appeared to us in different situations:
- many times: when in Capture mode (capture to RAM), the trigger button do not activate and the camera get locked capturing
- a few times: after captured in RAM, when change to the pvp window and try to playback the RAM
- once: with camera and pvp on live mode preview, when switch to Play main window and (without trying to play) pushed the gamma using Image Tools (as now this is the only way of checking image artifacts without disturbing the DoP lighting).

In all the described situations the camera was on 39-40C stable temperature, earth main plugged (and always through an UPS), pvp was always on live (not RAM or any flash file).

We had five shooting days since 26th of March so far: different jobs, daytime locations, night time locations, two different studios, and this error pop-up at least once in one, but not each time, of the described situations. In one of the days it happen so often (non activating the trigger) that we've decided to switch to 687 interface for the rest of the day and 687 worked fine all way through.

Our camera is a Phantom HD, upgraded with latest kernel and firmware, equipped with 512GB cinemag.
The laptop controller is a Dell Latitude, dual core, 4GB RAM, 1GB transfer, running on Vista 64, that have no other applications installed except from OS and Phantom capture software. We are keeping it exclusive Phantom dedicated to insure no observations might occur from unknown causes or applications incompatibilities (no firewall, anti-viruses, not even word).

Excepting from this error, using PCC on set for cinema applications is a very good improvement.

It will be great if a next version of this user interface could have a "set as default" ability to enable specific users preferences to be saved.
Cinema users, for example, do not use current presets of small resolutions, but have to manually calculate each time various cinema formats like 2048x1152, 1920x1440, etc, or to type standard camera speeds 24,25,30fps.
Conversions on 5fps avi are never used in cinema or broadcast.
Mov conversions are still locked on 30fps and with the new PCC there is no more way of "cheating" for PAL needs if the Phantom camera is not connected.

We're sure a lots of the already posted comments regarding cinema needs might already be work-in-progress.

We'll have another shooting later today and we will keep you updated with any new observations about PCC.

Diana
