I was curious if there were any benifits of moving from XP to 7.

-you recommended 4 GB of RAM, does that mean you support x64.
-have you integrated multicore processing into the PCC1.3.

bshinstock,

Aside from the higher system specs that typically accompany a PC running Win7, I haven't experienced a noticeable difference using PCC 1.3 on WinXP and Win7.

To answer your specific questions:
1) 4GB of RAM is more of a minimum requirement for Win7 than it is for PCC. I typically see this requirement for many applications running Win7 and that is what VRI uses when they make minimum system requirement specs for systems used with most of our devices

2) I know that Win7 will use all processors available to it by default (unless you set the processor affinity manually), however, I need to verify that multi-core processing was directly utilized in the PCC code. I will check with our software engineers and get back to you when I hear a reply.

I hope this helps.

~Phil

bshinstock,

Sorry I overlooked an important part of your question:

1) No, PCC 1.3 is still a 32-bit program. (You can easily see this by noting that it will install into the x86 version of the 'Program Files' system folder when installing to Win7(64bit).

Future versions of PCC will be 64 bit programs.

I found this comment from Phil posted back in May of 2011.

I am wondering if there is a 64 bit version of PCC now available. If so, can you provide a link to download it? I'm having some difficulty running the 32 bit version of PCC 2.1 on my boot camped MacBook Pro.

Thank you!

Our latest version of PCC, 2.14 will run on Windows XP and 7 64 bit OS's but they are installed as a 32 bit application. Here is the link to request a download:

http://www.visionresearch.com/Service-- ... n=Download

Just fill out the form and someone will get you the software.

Please remove the 64 bit version of PCC before you install PCC 2.14

Mike
