1st post. Sorry to ask such basics. Just shot v640, shots saved as cine raw, production will take back PC and drives soon. I'm a Mac guy and want some footage for show reel/FCP. I converted the files to mov and they are on the PC based drive, some are 30+gb. How do I get them on to my MacBook Pro/FCP? Is there freeware to do this - I'm aware of Gluetools but am seeking a cost free workflow. Can the Mac take files from a PC formatted drive as well as flies bigger than 4gb?

thanks,

Phil Savoie

If the drive is formatted for your pc you can read from it but you cannot write to it on your mac. I believe the format is NTFS right?

I use software from Paragon called NTFS for Mac OS X that allows me to read NTFS formatted disks on my Mac. It is not free, but I don't think it is very expensive either.

If you own both pc and Mac you can easily network them and transfer files between the two.

There is also a program called MacDrive. Its pc software that allows you to read & write mac formatted drives on a pc. Once installed you can take a mac formatted drive and connect it directly to your pc. This is probably the easiest.

If you go to their website they offer a free 10 day trial.

Hope this helps
